drill n' thread where the plastic pipe and a fitting overlaps, that is where it is thickest.

Darkpyro, I'm assuming you are using o-ring & clamp type seals, for which it could very well matter weather on not the surface is flat. However, if one has tapped a hole, especialy a NPT hole, it will not leak if the surface is curved.
i just drill a hole in the end cap a little to small for the gague and screw it in for a tight fit admitadly i have had one that leaked so i put some type of pressure glue made especialy for that perpose around it. but all the other times it worked fine.
