Hi,

I just discovered that putting a couple of layers of teflon tape into an O-ring groove that was cut slightly too deep helped the ring seal much better.

I removed the O-ring, wrapped 2 layers of cheap, thin teflon tape around th groove, taking care that it all folded (how to describe that in English??) into the groove. Then, I replaced the O-ring.

This might not be any good permanent solution - the part has to be made over again. But for experimental designs, at least one can fix a too deep groove this way, and then finding out what else needs to be redesigned before redoing the construction.

Hope somebody can use this.

Regards

i've used that trick many times. not because the groove was cut too deep, but by not having the right o-ring.

i hope it wasn't an expensive or time consuming piece that needs to get re-cut.

Well, if you said it "got into the groove" I would have imagined it just got up and went disco dancing :D

Nothing sucks worse then disco! Escept cutting your o-ring groove to deep. This should be moved to the "How To Section" as a tech tip. Good one I think.

I think it was clide who posted this suggestion on the old SGTC forums one time. Can't remember the specific thread, though.

Yeah that was probably me. This technique comes in handy quite a bit for me since I eyeball many of my cuts.
