Hey guys, I was on my bike in the woods where I came across a dumped fridge :P Luckily I had a bag on my back and with my knife, I managed to wrench the pump free from the housing. To cut the pipes I just bent them till they crimped and worked them back and forth until they broke. I did let out what was left of the freon gas but I was doing no worse than it being dumped in the woods.

First thought "Woah, this thing is damn heavy!" got it home and connected the wires, purred like a kitten. ATM to connect the pump to my launcher, I just pushed a male quick connect into the pipe (Through the small hole in the tip of the quick connect), through some 5800 psi rated hydraulic hose and to a female quick connect.

I know that using the compressor without a gauge and proper way to connect the pipe to fittings is pretty dangerous BUT I have a 41 BAR gauge and the proper fittings coming tomorow

BTW my gun has a
1m 22mm copper chamber
1.3m 15mm copper barrel
3/4" QEV
Blowgun pilot
All metal I plan on using it up to 500psi MAX but like 300-400 normally.

UPDATE: Just shot through the 2" part of a 2x6 with the 7.1g ball bearing at 400 psi

And now the fridge pump

What do you guys think? any target suggestions to show the power of a 500 psi shot or to guve to WOW factor

yeah, was a bit lucky :)

Just done some EXTREMELY rough calculations and have worked out that IF 20 seconds is 80psi which I can ROUGHLY guestimate then for the 1minute 30 seconds fill then the pressure is 360 psi. This is not talking into account of the pump slowing dows a bit at higher pressures

Looks like 400 psi should punch nicely through the 2" of a 2x4

and still have 500 psi for MOAR destruction

i would get a pressure gauge to be honest. i wouldn't be surprised if those estimates were a little off.

I have a 41 BAR gauge coming tomorow inc. the propper fittings to connect the compressor.

I will make sure that I take some pictures

i had a 50 bar gauge and my pump trashed it (my fault for making it go round to the zero)

Yeah, but I am only using 500psi, not looking for the burst pressure of my pump :P

it had to be done lol if only that gasket held up who knows
you should get an old co2 tank and fill it up to about 700 then your gun would be portabull

yeah, are you going to replace the gasket? I had thought about it, I might just have to make a hammer valved cannon for multiple high pressure shots.

Been thanked: 1 time

nice find
don't forget to add some sort of an air filter and to add a little oil form time to time... (rarely - but to tell you the thruth you have to figure it out yourself - every firdge compressor is different)

yeah, I will add the air filter, I have the outlet tube coiled and upright so no oil comes out when pumping, I will add some oil though, just to be safe

i could have but then the pump wouldent have been sealed then it would not work as a stage pump unless i welded up the case witch wasant practical

Oh yeah, guess you are looking out for another one then

Just worked out that my cannon with a 7.1g ball bearing has a SIMILAR velocity and energy as a .38 special

38 special = 980 fps and 235 ft/lbs

My cannon at 500 psi = 870 fps and 184 ft/lbs

(numbers from GGDT)

Actually, it is really no where near a 38 special but it is the closest I could find in both velocity and energy
