Ok, for my single action 4.5 mm rifle, I am considering making a magazine so all I have to do is pump, shoot, pump, shoot, etc. I am thinking of using a weak spring to push bbs down a tube the same size as the barrel. However, I see 2 problems.
1) more than one bb may shoot every shot
2) air will also go up the tube as well as down the barrel
Does anyone have any ideas on building a magazine like this?

It pains me to see so many people struggle with magazines.
My solution; Never, EVER reinvent the wheel. Use existing magazines.
Don't waste time and energy (not to mention money) on trying to create something that you know is going to be a colossal challenge. Get an airgun magazine from Wal-Mart, and create a slot for it out of Bondo (if possible, make a molded copy of the original reciever). My favorite airsoft mag design comes from a shitty softair spring pistol. It uses a mag with a small slit runnint along the top, with the hole for the BB in the front face of the mag. A tang on the bottom of the piston slides through the slit and pushes a BB up a ramp and into battery. If only they made STANAG-type mags like that... Then again, tangs don't like rotating bolts...

well, #1, I want to make it myself, and #2, I'm making a 4.5mm air rifle, not a airsoft gun.

i agree with SEAKING9006's first 2 sentences (he's on his own with the rest.)
don't reinvent the wheel and most of all don't hurt your brain over it.
qwerty also has a great point. connect a sleeve mech to the pump action mech. every time u pump it will load the breach then seal it back up again.
i'll draw it out next time i log on.

@i-will you are disagreeing with your own tag something you should never do lol
@maverik

@maverik

well, that was kinda the idea I had...but i didn't think of connecting it to the pump. Also, my gun is a lever operated single action pistol...so it way be kinda harder, but well see.

that isn't an air pump if thats what you think it is just the handle like the pump action on a shotgun
the sleeve thing has been done a few times before. so, as i said, don't reinvent the wheel. i make it a point not to contradict myself. so far i'm still doing a great job. reread my last post then you'll understand. i only agreed with the first 2 sentences.
and thanks for drawing it out. u saved me the trouble.
