metal body working mg34

im not sure if this is the right place to ask this but w/e.
any way i am currently building an mg 34 and i am having trouble figuring out how i will make the metal receiver were the bolt and ammo feed would be. i need it to be hollow but out of metal. i have limited metal working skills.

i figure that spudfiles is an ok place to ask a question like this due to the fact that we are all engineers at one degree or another. so if you have any suggestions that would be great.
