Jsr was talking about using a quick connect to make a ballistic knife in another thread(cant find it), so i gave it a go. Its quite powerful at only 75 psi it made it thought a ester egg and 1 peace of card board, not bad since it has no barrel. The blade is made from a broken hack saw blade pretty sharp.

So all you really need is a blade and a QD without an internal check valve? Neat :)

yeah thats all there to it. just gotta leave the rubber washer in there. its only good for about 200psi because its super hard to open any higher.

I like the look of the knive/QD combo.

Another interesting thing, you now have a bayonet for anything you can make and simply attach a female QD to the end.

Good, will like to see what you come up with. If you want it for long range(2m+) you will need a front heavy blade. This one will fly about 5-6m, most of it sideways :D

Very nice! Shame about the lack of "barrel" - adding a hollow "handle" as per the original design would not only give more acceleration but also act as a drag stabilisation device to make it fly straight.

Not really my idea though, I just took this idea and replaced the spring with compressed air:

Looking forward to what you might come up with, might give it a go myself when I get home... in about a month, grrrr....

Now here is a knife projectile! 12.7 mm bore, about 175 mm long with about 37 mm diameter with blades open.

I've got one put together with some PB quick-connects, any ideas on how to make the knife more stable while still remaining a knife?

Interesting thought Duane... a "magic wand" style arrow-launcher, hmm...

I don't see how I could do that with out it getting in the way of the handle. I might try the design with the rod through the male QD, but I'm afraid it wouldnt add much stability... It most important that it resembles a reall knife
