Fridge pipes!

Hi guys! My problem is that the output pipe from my fridge compressor is a 5mm steelpipe and is there any other way to connect it to my setup without welding? Does compression fittings work on steel? Or witch other options do i have?

maby compression fittings or http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... x=30&ty=66 i know its a long link ... but compression fittings do not work well on car brakes so ive been told or you can go to a brake shop and ask if they can do
the double flare for higher pressures such as in a brake system.

i have never done double flare ive only done single flare and compression fittings

You can generally solder to steel. Find a suitable chunk of steel, drill a 5mm hole in one end, and drill and tap for 1/8 or 1/4" NPT in the other end. Flux it, shove the steel tube in, solder, and done.

The normal method to connect a hermetic seal on the compressor is with silver brazing. It requires a welding torch to do properly.

I got a 1/2' compression tee and 1/2 cap drilled a 5mm hole in the cap.
Found a hard rubber door stopper drilled a 5mm hole in it and sanded the OD so the compression olive fits over it. Then put it together just like a normal compression fitting.

As long as you can get a single flare to form in the steel pipe it should work fine. Compression fitting should also work, contrary to a previous comment compression fitting can handle braking system pressures and would be fine at 500psi. If niether of those options work then you can try to find someone who has a flare tool capable of ISO bubble flares. These are a brake flare for metric lines and should workif you can find the tool. They are easily located though tool distributers but can cost an arm and a leg soif you know someone who has one that would be your best bet at getting your tube flared. contrary to a previous comment compression fitting can handle braking system pressures and would be fine at 500psi I only heard thet they cannot hold brake pressuer thank you.
