You have to lubricate the mould before pouring so it can slide out.

It would help to know what the mold is made of?lklaussen wrote:Well looks like I have a question for JSR.. but anyways what is the best way to release epoxy from the mold for making a vortex block?
There are actual mold release compounds.

Most mold release compounds are wax based. I've seen car wax, candle wax, and ski wax used as inexpensive alternatives.
All the encapsulation or potting compounds that I had used on molds typically worked the best with a mold release that contained some PTFE.Technician1002 wrote:Most mold release compounds are wax based. I've seen car wax, candle wax, and ski wax used as inexpensive alternatives.
Similar to this;

This was of course in a production environment where quality of the product was a major concern. The molds were typically made out of materials like nylon, delrin or polyethylene.
