Does anyone have any knowledge, or preferably experience with shock tubes or pulse detonation engines?

I'm looking to build a PDE (for the foreseeable future, manually operated, i.e. only operating for one cycle at a time) operating on propane/air with a Shchelkin spiral. Hydrogen/air or hydrogen/oxygen would be feasible on a small scale.

At this stage it will serve no practical purpose.

IIRC, pulse detonations use more energetic ignition sources.

Hope you have very good hearing protection and even more tolerant neighbors.... 'Cause a normal jet engine is pretty damned quiet compared to a PDE.

'Cause while I wasn't directly involved with the testing, I was maybe 1/2 mile away when this guy was being tested. Loud is not a strong enough word.
