I have finally found the inner workings of the valve. This is the final design.

Who is to say that these drawings arent accurate? Next time someone purchase we need them to snap a few photos of the interior. Just curious as to where you found them.

Close... but no. Pimpmann, I have a a few of those photos you mentioned. They're on my web site, and have a password before them.

These are close, but no cigar. First off, there's an O-ring on the right plug near the inside to seal the plug, so that it can only be held in palce by the screws without leaking. Then, you see where the green part is lathed down, to fit in the brown part? That's not true. There is no such thing. The right plug is about an inch or so of 3.5" PVC stock, nothing more, nothing less.

The piston has double O-ring seals and slides in the right side of the tee. Since these drawings are not accurate, you can't see the bottoming part of the tee. The piston is lathed down so that it slides over this part, and stops when it seals against the sealing face, which is 2" SCH-40. The guide rod is between the plug and the piston and slides through the piston, with space around it so air can equalize.

I believe I know where this idea started. It's a, (very), old Spudtech post about someone making one. Ever since then, this idea took off.

No. Have you ever seen the inside of a pw tee? It's got a 3-1/2" port that goes in a a little bit, (for the pipe to bottom), and then, it gets stepped down about a millimeter or so, to bottom the pipe. The piston slides inside the outside, (3-1/2"), part, and the lathed down portion extends into the stepped down end and seals against the chamber port, (2" SCH-40).

i still dont get how the space behind the piston will get presherized with out filling it from the back

The guide rod will leak a little,much like on a sprinkler valve with a guide rod thats is how they equalise the pressure.

actually i own one and all it is is a check valve which equalizes the pressure
