A lot of bait cannon systems I've saw a bipod based. I wanted something a little portable and more fun looking. So I went with a design I called the BC-17. I've test fired it and got a 300 yard shot (uphill, so probably farther at the beach or lake.) at only 85psi. I plan on using it up to about 100psi. I use a Ryobi Plus One rechargeable air compressor to fill it in a short time. I was really pleased with the look (a cross of a portable mini-gun and howitzer/cannon) plus I think the WWII P-51 Mustang paint scheme sealed the deal for awesomeness.

I wanted a more portable but long range bait cannon. The barrel unscrews at the modified sprinkler valve for storage and transporting. Can't wait to use it for my vacation in June to do some surf shark fishing.

Thank you. I used a lot of input and data from here, and my past skills from being an airsmith at a local paintball shop/field years ago to work to build it. It's the first spud gun I've ever built and I couldn't be happier with the results. So now as long as I can catch a big shark or two next month... I consider it a success.

This is awesome!

I'm looking to build my own cannon, but probably half the size and range of what you are using.

I've got the calculator tool and think my design should work good, but I wanted to ask...

1.) What's your barrel length from the valve to the muzzle?
2.) What is the length of your pressure chamber? The main section, not so much the 90*'s and the short sections of pvc.

Thanks!
