With a direct propane setup, Are all the parts used standard plumbing parts or are they special gas parts?

its all basic plumbing stuff. the regulator is made for compressed air and so is the hose and some of the metal fittings

the only thing that is not normal plumbing supplies is the torch head, you take a normal bernzomatic torch head, saw it off after the bend, and thread it using a 1/8" NPT pipe die check out http://www.burntlatke.com for more info on that
