Referring to the http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/air-del ... t6083.html how long do these materials take to rupture assuming the pressure is 80psi?

Aluminium foil
Wide electrical tape
Plastic from drink bottles
etc
etc

Well the opening times are generally going to be under a millisecond or two...I mean, when It's burst, It's open.

you can increase the pressure in the chamber slowly...

well assuming you are making one like that. there are many variables such as how big the hole is, how big you make the chamber how big the burst disc is excetre. and if you are only taking it up to 80. plastic from drinking bottles will hold probly over 120 depending on the size of the piece of plastic.

Make one if you really want to know, it's not that hard.

A burst disk will burst when there's too much pressure. It probably won't hold 80 psi for 10 seconds and then break. It depends on how big the equalization hole is. The smaller it is, the longer the delay.

Have any of you even made burst disc cannons? I can't get an 8 layer aluminum foil disc to burst at 125 psi, and that's with a 1" union. A 1/2" union would make it hold even more pressure. A soda bottle won't pop in a 1/2" union unless it reaches about 200 psi, which, hopefully, you won't try with PVC.
