ideas for a handgun?

Miniature cannons are novelties made with materials such as bottles or pens.

you could combine a mini-coaxial with the trigger and hammer mechanism from a typical cap pistol and you're sailing ;)

I assume you want a combustion?
I would gut an airsoft pistol (the crappy walmart kind) and use a piece of 1/2" pvc for a barrel. You could make a chamber to fit into the handle.

You might get lucky if you check ebay a lot.
Some times you can find cool airsoft stuff there.

http://cgi.ebay.com/AS69-CHROME-AIRSOFT ... dZViewItem
Ends in 35mins.
$10 shipping, $.01 bid on it.
Not what youre looking for, but still cool looking.

Just make piston valved guns and build a wooden shell from thin hardwood. You can make them very realistic.
Home Depot has wood in various thicknesses that you can make a cover for the guns from. Paint them black and you're set.
