can the barrel be the same size as the ball valve?

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

If I wanted a 2" barrel, can the ball valve be two inches (it is a metal ball valve) will the barrel just screw in to the valve?

If that's what you want, a ball valve is not a good choice of valve. You should really use at least a modded sprinkler valve in those cases.

You can use a valve of the same size as the barrel if you wish, but I suggest you don't use a ball valve as your main valve, or at the very least, spring load it.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

id say the ball valve is good for a first but just make it so you can upgrade it when ever your ready and i wouldnt spend the money on a 2 inch ball valve jus adapt it down to smaller one

my first one was a moded sprinkler valve and all the parts cost about $25.

for a first a ball valve is fine but like josh 121 said it would be a good idea to leave room for an upgrade.
