Its not completely done (Needs paint and rail system and better trigger.)
But I thought I would show you guys my first prototype for a Compact Burst Disk grenade launcher...

I will hopefully get a video of it firing here soon because it has some decent power for its size and it's quite loud.

what psi have you tested it at?

i would imagine that the coupling would fire off with the barrel with enough pressure

70PSI and then the disks bursted, highest trigger pulled fire was at 65psi.

The coupling and barrel are very secure and very snug so thats not a concern.

Judging by the first video he used aluminum foil.

Looks okay, how far will it put a NERF?

Hey Davidvaini,

Cool idea but I can already tell you its going to be inaccurate as all get out.Not to fear this isn't a "crappy design" post. What you need is to wrap the football in paper. Get a sheet of computer paper and cut it into 2" wide strips 8" long(about 5 strips total). crumple the strip into a ball and then pull it back out straight(this will prevent the paper staying attached to the football in flight). Next wrap the football and twist it down into the barrel. You're set.

1.5" barrels and especially short ones have a very hard time dealing with the friction of the football against the barrel wall. Th paper is a better method of lubrication than oils or what not(no dirty jokes Jack!).

On second thought, why not use a 2" acrylic barrel. I've got some acrylic pipe that fits a nerf perfectly. 2" short barrels always have the advantage over 1.5" short barrels.

I would love to see this thing in action, especially once you get the rail system and it mounted. I really like the triggering system, although, you may have concerns of loosing your trigger (until you get it fixed, that is).

And, I would agree with goathunter, the 2" pipe wold work better.

Nice job, so far.

A rail system for a grenade launcher?

Unrealistic...but what works=/.

How far can you blast the mock grenade?-And, is it at a certain angle?-

I thought about building one for my paintball launcher and here is what I've come up with:

First, I would mount a 1913 rail to the bottom of my shroud (I'm packing an A-5 Flatline). If the barrel does not have a shroud, one could be constructed out of PVC pipe. Next, I would build the launcher (duh) then acquire some scope rings and remove the top portion of them, and screw them to the launcher from underneath. The rings should mount on to the rail.

That's what I would do.

Hubb, i understand how to mount the scope.

But on a grenade launcher?
I guess..on certain standards, realism should be a factor

ouch is right your using foil burst disk and and your shooting a nerf grenade out of a 8in barrel, a scope is just unpractical for a grenade launcher of this status, but its still pretty sweet. :D
