Hey guys I haven't posted much recently, because I was mostly lurking around, also I am developing a new cannon heal jr and a pen gun similar to jsr and rcman. I just wanted to ask you guys if an aluminum barrel from a bb airsoft gun could hold much pressure, im going to use marine epoxy bushing and everything will be epoxied in, the id is 6mm, do you think this could hold pressures of 500psi+?

helluva lot less surface area on the inside means high burst pressure think of the burstdisk jsr used in his 6mm burst disk gun it was 1 layer of scotch tape I belive and in the end he still needed to make it burst by lossening the union. Btw you B*S*A*D I was gonna make one with aluminum jk but seriously I was.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

The following estimate assumes static pressure, a 1.7mm wall thickness (what I guessed from the picture), and a 40KSI tensile strength alloy:thanks for the feedback , whats your guess on the burst pressure of the pipe? im kinda new on the high pressure stuff
Roughly 22,000psi.

Indeed, I get to play with these sort of toys at work, sometimes flimsy plastic microbore tubing is used and it's hardly believe it can take at least 5,000 psi without failure.spudfarm wrote:cylindical pressure vessels with small diameter will only suprise you in their burst pressure

This is not a fact but I measured my airsoft tubing and I am pretty sure all airsoft aluminum barrels have a wal thickness of 1mm not 1.7. Eh elite sniper?DYI wrote:The following estimate assumes static pressure, a 1.7mm wall thickness (what I guessed from the picture), and a 40KSI tensile strength alloy:thanks for the feedback , whats your guess on the burst pressure of the pipe? im kinda new on the high pressure stuff

Well im not actually sure but i think dyi is right, but im not sure, as i don't have a set of calipers. I measured against a 6mm bb cut in half:D, pretty crude haha.

You don't need calipers just a ruler with metric. well anyway my airsoft barrel has a 1mm wall thickness.

O well nonetheless if it was 1mm it would still hold over 500psi easily eh?
