The first one looks like it could work fairly easily. You could simply route the exhaust air from a piston valve to push the bolt forward. It would be a matter of tweakability.
The second one reminds me a lot of Brian's air ram build. It worked fantastically when the barrel was plugged to allow for maximum back pressure, however it did not have enough back pressure to charge the ram when projectiles were used. It's still feasible however, and probably easier to build, it's just more complicated in terms of getting the pressures workin on the bolt to be correct.
