Help with a fridge compressor

Hello every one.
This morning I was on my way to school, when I saw a fridge. Take a little check, it still has the compressor
So I called my mom to help me to bring it home. When I got back form school, I took the compressor out, but when I finished it, it doesn´t work
I compared this compressor to a working one, it looks fine, but it has one more wire that was attached to the base of the fridge.
So can anybody tell me how can I put this thing to work or how to connect the wires ?

L is Line and is Brown
N is Neutral and is Blue
Earth Ground or Safety Ground is Yellow/Green

Are there 2 or 3 white cables?
One cable is Power from main.
There may be a cable for the fan power.
There may be a cable for thermostat and door light.

Thanks for the link damn it´s complicate BTW I found the L/N and ground wire, the rest are probably for lights or something like that, what do I do now?

The fridge does have as thermostat to turn off the power to the compressor. That will need to be disconnected and removed.

Sometimes a fridge has a bad compressor. It is best to plug them in and see if the compressor runs before taking it out.

yea you will need to find the thermo stat wires and ether link them together permanent and use the wall switch to turn the compressor on/off or put a switch in the thermostat loop and you can switch it on there. i used a 15amp switch

you should have tested the compressor before you took it apart

It was too big to bring into my house. Where was the termostate in the fridge?

The thermostat is usually inside with a knob that can be turned to adjust it warmer / colder.

If you simply take all the wires off the compressor then just connect the power to the compressor, it should power up. You need to find the two terminals on the start relay that are hot and common. The green wire connects to the metal case to ground it.

my compressor the thermostat wires were black and purple.

My problem is there are too many wires and the compressor has 3 things to connect to the power

Please post a pictures of:

The whole compresser with both cables showing.
A close up, in focus and without your finger in the way.

If we can see all the cables with colored wires on both loose ends we can explain it better.

You only need one cable, the main power cable that has a wall plug and a jumper wire to simulate the thermostat switch to make it function.

There are other examples of compressor pictures posted that others have requested help with. MrCrowley had posted a good example of pictures.

if you can open the the door of the fridge it was in, then find the temperature adjustment knob pull it out to see what cables went to it, then link them together and test if it will turn on. thats basically what i did.
i pulled out the wires that when to the light but you could possible get a fan to work on them?

also if the manuals dewey-1 posted are anything to go by you are missing a starting capacitor.

Here are the wires, basiclly I already understand how it was connected, and I think I have find out witch are the termostate wires

like i said in my post before just pull the adjustment knob out and check the wires that its connected to. But with my slightly educated guess its blue and brown from the from the second pic you just posted BUT only if they used to lead into the fridge.

Those are cables not a wire that you refer to. Each cable has multiple wires.
Are all wires in there original positions? Meaning you did not move any around?

It is odd to see a Blue wire on the L terminal.

The left most cable has four wires in it:
Black
Brown Thermostat
Blue Thermostat
Yelllow/Green is Earth/Chassis ground

The right most cable has 3 wires in it: (Main power plug)
Brown is Line
Blue is Neutral
Yellow/Green is Earth/Chassis ground

Holy crap thats complicated.... Ok, so maybe I shouldent try a fridge compressor yet? Heres an idea for you when you get that complete. Buy a 20 gallon tank, mount it on the back of your car, or if you have a truck, in the bed. Then make a large single or double barrel Coaxial cannon, and place it on the back with a removable mount... Perfect for removing large boulders or shooting down trees. Use a bolt and you can be the uber hunter...
