The special coupling is pressure rated (130PSI continuous)

Chrony showed top speed of 324fps (220mph) and 715ft/lbs energy! HGDT predicted 158fps, we were surprised. Schedule 80 3" is really as good a fit as anyone could ask for baseball. Ball fits just snug enough to hold position in barrel. Customer threatens to have us build BL-630.

This could easily support schedule 40 2.5" for tennis balls

Neat coupling. I'm sure it helps to "go with the flow" through the barrel porting.

That might be the outward impression but I think you'll find they're fairly reasonable if you take the time to get to know them properly
