I've seen dozens of posts about hammer valves, etc, but couldn't semi auto be achieved with a constant supply of air and a sprinkler valve/qev?
is that option just less efficient/powerful?

Thanks

Certainly, the important thing is that you're feeding air in such a manner that your valve reseats as soon as you close the pilot, for this reason I suspect a QEV is a better idea than a sprinkler valve.

Since you're dumping air through the pilot it would be a bit less efficient than a hammer valve but certainly has the potential to be much more powerful, especially for larger calibres.

It will work as long as your pilot has more flow than the inlet. Horribly inefficient though, It's better to use something which closes the inlet on firing.

Suggestion on my part: Slide/Sleeve valve, at least if a QEV is being used.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
