wood stock help

alright i have a pine wood stock that is 38 mm wide and im going to removing insides for the action.my brass action will fit inside but will leave only 5 or 6 mm ish wood stock around it , how could i strengthen it ?

you wont need to, the gun wont have anywhere near enough recoil to brake the stock. Just dont drop it to hard and you will be fine

You could attach steel strips on both sides.

You should be fine. However if you're still a little concerned, you could either switch to a stronger wod like oak, maple, poplar; or construct a pair of supports to buttress the recoil to a more solid portion of the stock. This can be done with aluminum, steel , or even scrap wood.

Recently I've been working with a wood called Sweet gum that comes from the north american dogwood tree. I removed a flat chip that was about as thick as the material you would be left with and it was exceptionally difficult to even bend. To break it along the grain direction, I had to clamp it in a vice and strike it with a hammer.

5mm is perfectly fine... I've had just 3mm on one of my guns and that was using even softer wood than pine. Just make sure the action fits inside with minimal gaps.

hrmmmm well that all sound good

and i came up with a , (i think ) swell idea.
if i have the action fitting inside the stock already like it should , ill grease up or and add releasing agent on the action then pour in epoxy or fiberglass resin around the action .then will bond to the wood and the action will be a perfect fit every time. Sound good?

Thats going to be the most solid way of doing it. Just make sure you're careful and plan ahead.

Vaseline works like a charm as a mold release.

Make sure you put quite a bit of lube on there though. Don't want the "action" getting stuck.
