.357 idea.

Miniature cannons are novelties made with materials such as bottles or pens.

I have a couple .357 magnum shells, and I my friend has a .357 revolver. My idea, which has been put to use in a different gun, is a coaxial mini, with custom pump, inside the shell. These are spent cartridges, so its safe. I just need some help with piloting. I want to use the hammer from the revolver, but I need a way to pilot the piston inside of the shell.

Idea 1, a burst disk.
Idea 2, a schrader valve core.
Idea 3, something that I can't post due to rules, but uses the same concept as the original cartridge.

JSR, a message for you, do you have any tips for me to cast epoxy this small?

A message to anyone, do you think this could be fun to make and shoot, or just a waste of time?

It will be a waste of time, but I'd use the schrader valve core, and yes he can cast epoxy this small, he made a gun out of a schrader valve lol

Jsr can probably chime in with the website, but when a while a go he posted a cool link with a mini pistol than fit on your keychain, it used shells like the ones you are describing and had a hand pump to reach the high pressure necessary. The pump was very easy to build, I made one for my cigarette gun.

Ok, well I was hoping to shoot finishing nails with the ends chopped off so they fit in the barrel. I was thinking a small high pressure (1,000psi) air pump to fill the cartridges, and because I have cast epoxy now, I feel like I can get started on some bigger projects. (the irony, I say bigger but really I mean smaller....)

As impressive as all thE eprojects jsr does with epoxy are I think most of them take a level of skill and patience higher than the average spudder (definitely me), I have had much more success working with brass, copper, steel and solder ive found it to be faster more forgiving and much easier to take apart if you mess up.

Well, my friend goes to a open range that no one cleans, so if I mess up, there are probably half a million shells on the ground for me. So its no big deal.

I'll bite :)

I'm not generally very patient, I think it's more a question of experience with the technique.

Have a careful look through this thread, it's long but there's a lot of information there.

Ok. How much recoil did you get for those cartridges? Was it enough to obtain a full auto mechanism some how?

If it was, you would have read about.

The only way I managed to get something to cycle cartridges on a pneumatic is to keep the air supply and valve away from the cartridge itself:

Ok. Makes sense. Well I have an idea. I just need to figure out how to make hammer valves. Cartridge + bolt action + hammer valve = semi auto rifle.
