Co2 Regulators

Hi, this is my first post on the forum so I will introduce myself, My name is Gabriel and I run a youtube channel called ChannelX24 (drop a sub if you like). I am a member of the Slingshot a Channel forum, and am just starting to make air guns, I also have a lathe and a small skill in engineering/making things.

So with out further a do I will ask my question I have made a QEV+Slider valve air gun in 6mm caliber and will present it on the forum as soon as I have got a good regulator that outputs 0-100psi to use it with. I will be running 12g CO2 (800-1000psi) through a paintball tank thread adapter and want to use this regulator http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SWP-Side-Entr ... 20da71b8ae It says it it is a Co2 regulator with a Pub bottle female thread, So my question is how to attach it to a paintball tank thread? Maximum output is 4 bar, around 60 psi... performance will be a little disappointing for a small bore.

I would recommend this:

Yeah, you definitely need to upgrade to a QEV setup

BTW since you're in the UK be aware that a barreled device capable of exceeding 12 foot pounds of muzzle energy is an illegal firearm in the eyes of the law so exercise caution, especially with this sort of brilliant top notch policing going on

Thank Jack I have purchased the palmer regulator, will post gun as soon as I get it set up with the regulator.

OK, so I bought the Palmers Pursuit Rock The Boat CA regulator as you recommended. But am a wee bit unsure of how to work it properly. The problem is that when I turn the screw and set the out put pressure to its lowest setting or off.
And then (with the regulator not connected to the guns circuit) I screw in a 12g Co2 canister, and instead of stopping and air from getting out of the regulator the air just shoots out of the regulators output port. It does this at high speed and the air seems to be unregulated. What does CA or Constant Air mean? Is my regulator faulty or am I just doing something wrong?

As you see on the regulator circuit I have installed a safety 10 bar pop off valve should the regulator fail. I also have a second regulator for fine adjustment of pressure to the gun.

The regulator's job is not to act as a valve - the +/- setting increases or decreases the output pressure but is not an on-off valve.



Did you try this setup with the secondary regulator output sealed? I would do that with the Palmer reg at its lowers setting and progressively increase this setting and see how the pressure changes on the secondary reg gauge.
