Soda Can Pwnage

Well, i didnt know where to put this, but i shot it with a homade airsoft gun, so ill post it here.

This is what happens when you shoot a full seltzer can with a .12g airsoft bb at around 950 FPS../....

I think what happened was the BB caused an agitation of the CO2 when it entered the liquid, and its like the coke+mentos thing, exept with a high-speed BB. i have a feeling the faster the BB goes the more BAM i get. expect a slow-mo video of this happening sometime within the next month.......

You need to get the video up. That just looks like a can with a big hole in it, i'll save my vote for the video.

Yep, that was ONE airsoft bb. it left a small dent on the other side also!

What gun did u use, 950 fps? i dont know about that please tell me wat u used and if its home made please tell me how to make one THANX

PEX tubing, a small air chamber and a modded 3/4 inch sprinkler valve. the barrel is 30 inches in lenght. the only reason i havent posted one is becuase its quite ghetto........ in fact VERY ghetto. and no offense, but i dont like everyone seeing my ghettoness.

You’re over complicating it, shake up a can then open it what happens? It spews Coke everywhere. When the projectile, a softair BB in this case, hits the can it’s like shaking the can, then when the round punctures it’s like opening it. The hole is from explosive depressurization. Shoot a Coke can full of water with a .22lr, it’ll shred the can, but that’s kinetic energy, think of it as “wound cavity”.

Yeah, its like the mythbusters episode where they used the small bomb to blow up halph the airplane........ do you think a higher FPS will cause a bigger rip? ive had some that ripped the sides of the can clean off the top and bottom............ but that was with a .177 cal 1500 FPS airgun.........

Yes, the high the velocity the bigger the wound cavity, the wound cavity crates pressure and the only way for it to go is through the can, in some cases taking the wall with it.
Shoot a Coke can full of water with a .22high-velocity short and it will look like the pic of the Coke can shot by the airsoft BB, shoot it with a .22lr and it will detonate, like it did with your magnum springer, I’m assuming it’s ether a magnum springer or a pre-charge pneumatic, shoot the can with a .17HMR and there’ll be no can, shooting cans is about the only use for the .17HMR.

The vid is coming..... got 3 papers due tomorrow. and i know the FPS because i 1. used GGDT and 2. used my homade chronograph (pretty schweet)
