slip and slide. what do you think?

well for my teen grope iv been asked to make a slip and slide. And my idea is to have 4 tarps the same size zip tied together and then have 20' piece of 1/2" with a 1/4" ball valve and then a garden hose thingy at the end.
Then ill have holes drilled in the pipe to let the water flow down the tarps.


Well tell me what you think. is their anything i should change? any thing i should not do?

I say no to the tarp. It gives you friction burns like hell. Use that heavy visquine stuff, (heavy plastic sheeting), that they use for dirt crawlspaces. The thick black stuff seems to work best. Not to mention, it warms the water slightly in summer weather. Oh yeah, and you need lots of dish soap to run down the channel. You just run, and jump on it. Also, much more fun if it is on a slope. I think we just staked it in the ground with tent stakes, and the lack of water on the edges kept you from wandering to them. VERY FUN!!

ok can i get this at lowes? and we have it on a hill its RELY Steep. and we use shaving creme and that stuff makes you go faster than dish soap. but I think we will use both this year.

yeah use the plastic like ammosmoke said, but i reckon you should put a little ramp in it, n make all the little kiddies get air off it .

You will probably have to stake it down. Be sure to put the stakes all the way in and below the ground surface so you don't have a bloody foot and a screaming mom. The mom part is worse. Also figure a way to have a water pool at the end. It works well to stop you and is pretty fun too.

I experimented a little with ramps. I ended up mostly just hurting myself but knowing me, I'll do it again this summer. Be sure the ramp can not collapse. It's no fun when that happens. You're butt wont like it either. Oh, and if you get enough air... landing ramps are nice to have. Just be sure it's in the right spot. The only thing worse than not landing on a landing ramp is landing on one wrong!

yes i will be shure to steak it down we did this last year but they used tarps together and they didn't put the steaks in all the way and one of them clipped my arm big bruise and nice big lump . and for the ramp i think im going to use a kicker ramp. and i got all of the stuff for it to day i got a 6MM plastic sheeting its 10' by 25'. and all the other little things i might make a how to :scratch: i don't know. but thanks for all the help and should i take pic when use it??

Yeah, I think that is what he meant. Definitely make sure that you stake it in all the way. It works good if you use those giant nail spikes. They go in really easy, and they aren't too hard to take out. However, they are usually like 50cents apiece, which can add up fast . It couldn't have been 6mm, that is as wide as an airsoft pellet! Man, but that would prob allow you to totally suspend it or something. Ahh, the possibilities.

how did you make the water pool on yours? was it a marsh at the bottom of your yard or something?
