Valves... purchased or homemade?

If you're making an air rifle, do you use homemade valves most of the time or do you just buy a valve?

its mostly whatever you prefer. ive seen alot of rifles that use sprinklers and alot that will use pistons. but ive heard that a good rule of thumb is there isnt really non need for a homemade piston or anything unless you go bigger then one inch pipe.then you should make a custom valve.

go with a piston or a QEV valve. and in my opinion make the piston valve even if its smaller than 1" they have very good flow and dulp alot of air/gas quickly.
