Wasn't sure whether to put this in the finished cannons section or not because it's only the valve.

Hi everyone,

It's half term so I can't be lathing things at school, which truely is a pain in the arse. So I build my very own hammer valve without the use of a lathe, the only tools I used were a drill press, a spanner and a saw.
The schrader is only a temporary fitting, just to prove that there were no leaks, and there were no leaks so far up to 80psi (the highest it has been tested).
Eventually I will buy a 1/4" - 1/8" Step Up Adaptor so that I can attach the Sodastream bottle on it and have some high pressure fun. After the design concept has been proven to work, I'll then make a gun around the valve, making the actual hammer will be a bit of a bugger me thinks.A Step Up Adaptor is the opposite of a reducing bush..It has a larger female thread than male thread, for all of you who were wondering WTF?!
It's a good thing that 9mm holes will accept 1/8" fittings with some general purpose/elbow grease. Otherwise I would have been screwed because 9mm is the largest drill bit I have. The only thing that was bought for the hammer valve was the Aluminium Bar, but the rest is set aside for a different project (the hybrid cartridges).
Is it me or do I sound like a small child writing this. :D

a how-to would be nice, im constructing multiple hammer-valved guns. think that sexy valve of yours could take the pressures of CO2?

Pretty damn certain it could, my plan was to run it at about 50 or 60bar anyway, so it should be fine.
A How-to is a cool idea, i'll get on it as soon as tomorrow rolls around.

Wow, that is going to look cool. Care to share your designs of the whole thing?

This is pretty much it in a nutshell. Just your standard hammervalve gun. I left out the loading mechanism just becase I'm too lazy to draw it on without the use of a graphics tablet.

I make my own high pressure hammer valves out of a massive cilinder to, my last one was made out of plexiglas. I really like this project, can't wait to see the completed gun!

Well  a few months ago the police stormed my workplace(garage :D) They took everything with them, they said that if I was lucky I would get them back. A month later I have erverything back but not my projects and my metal lathe  . So al the work and money is like thrown away  .

hmmm... why would the police take your metal lathe? I am pretty sure they shouldn't be taking that kind of stuff. i understand the guns but the expensive and privately owned lathe? Dutch cops must be some real douches.

so is this used to release small amounts of air from a larger chamber?

This is a hammer valve used at 60 bar, so he will get many shots out of this baby. Maxus, how many shots are you planning on having for this thing, cause it doesn't look regulated in the design... Or even better yet, will it be using steel ball bearings like the pictures look like?

It should fire maybe 10 or 15 shots at high pressure then begin to dwindle. I will be using small ball bearings as ammo.
