On a valve like this, does the piston slide in the bushing, or is the bushing cut down and the piston slides in socket itself? My cap piston failed so I have the rest of the gun with screw holes in the tee, I want to covert it to something like this.

You already gave up? Yeah I'm pretty sure the Mauler is a compact. It has slices of bushings in it so there are no adapters sticking out.

the one you just uploaded just looks like a normal compact piston valved launcher. Look around the showcase some more or use the search to find some more examples and go at it again. My parts are all ordered, pistons made, and pipe bought. Wish me luck!

I did but only gippeto has made a cap piston as far as I can tell, plus on your topic people said some worked in different ways, I like dans the best but about normal compact piston valves, do they tipically slide in the bushing, or socket
That is all.

They slide on the pipe! not inside the bushing.

What pipe! Mines not like yours with a adapter and a piece of pipe.

Ok, the piston in Gipetto's design is a cap!

My Mouse Musket and my Dragon both used PVC caps as pistons. An issue with them is longevity. They don't last long before they crack and leak.

This is the 4th piston that cracked in the Mouse Musket. The other 3 cracked in the center of the piston face. The piston is a 1 inch PVC pipe cap.
For this reason I have given up on using PVC pipe caps for pistons.

I was thinking of casting a bondo piston in a plug and letting it slide in the bushing, would this work well enough of would it crack
That is all.
