Machined pengun - Dimply

Miniature cannons are novelties made with materials such as bottles or pens.

There... will teach me not to be sarcastic...

I have already my own projects and ideas you know... Next one will be MUCH bigger than a pengun. And more exiting too. And it was planned before the pengun stuff, that I made only for JSR startup... I love POWA! You'll see. :D

What you should do is create a separate thread, explain your ideas, ask for suggestions maybe and start building. It shouldn't be that hard ;-)

Damn... did it again...

My problem is I don't have a lathe or mill.
Like most people here. It's not a problem, just a different way to have fun.

Yeah I know. My problem is I don't have a lathe or mill. I can't wait for your next project, I bet it will be something cool.

The Sherline Messiah, I like it :D

Well, your disciple has almost caught up :) was going to start the piston but it's bedtime, I'll do it tomorrow. I think it needs a full body thinning down to unify the external diameter. Also note the two tone firing button, half way through making it I noticed the brass plug I was using had a hole through the centre, but I pressed on regardless and later made an aluminium plug which was a close fit, hammered it in et voila :)

Jeez... you're a fast learner!
Very very good indeed! I''m impressed young Grasshopper!
Well, now take a deep breath and polish your stick!

I'll see if I can do the next (and last) piece tomorrow. Not sure... maybe if I wake up early enough.
And it takes quite a long time to make the movie :? More than machining that's for sure. And almost even more to upload it to YouTube. Oh well... I'll try to give you something to chew for the week-end.

I try :) as you pointed out, the hours seem to fly by when you're machining, got a lot done today. Would have finished the piston and polish had relatives not decided to drop in :s

Thanks, means a lot! Though again, it was mostly simply following your instructions :)

The thing is you've contrived (probably not by accident :p) it in such a manner that it cannot be tested for function before it's completely finished.

Looking forward to seeing the use of the mill, it's getting lonely in the drawer.

True. If there's disappointment, better be at the end or I would never finish this machining saga otherwise

I look at it the other way, make the worky bits first, test it and then that inspires me to finish it.

Well, that's the theory, in practice what I usually do is make things work then be so happy that I can't be bothered with the aesthetics. So perhaps your way is best :)

JSR,
It didn't take much time for you to get into the machining mode. Well done!

Oh! Groovy!!!!!

Very well done. Okay now you're waiting for me, right? :D
Too much work right now... maybe I'll have something for Saturday morning. Not sure. Take a break, and try to find some cutting fluid and a cheap metal source ;-)

And... hmmm... is it epoxy that smell in the piston and plug?
Because I may use this hole in the plug again you know...

Patience, patience...

Thanks :) tomorrow it will be one week I've been ait, and so far I love it! I really expected some bits to be tedious but it just isn't, I keep looking at the clock and being amazed at how time has flown. And if I screw up, I don't mind redoing the part! This is better than waiting for epoxy to cure and biting your nails wondering if it will work.

All it's missing to work is a barrel, which needs a barrel support, which needs a mill, which needs a tutorial, which needs LeMaudit.... it's all linked ;)

No rush, I'll find other things to do in the meantime :D

I don't have cylindrical magnets, was going to put in an ali plug put decided to take a break :)

Now with those dimples, I'm afraid of the final look... at least it's not lots of tiny rubber balls...

Dimply... (sigh) I should have called it Dick...
